High-Speed Rail to Connect Nordic Countries – Join the Webinar on 17 April
Scandria Alliance, together with the Regional Council of Southwest Finland, is organising a webinar on European cross-border high-speed rail connections. The event will focus specifically on future transport projects connecting the Nordic countries, such as the fixed western connection between Turku and Stockholm.
The webinar is part of a broader discussion on European transport policy. Last November, the European Commission published a high-speed rail network plan that includes measures to create fast European rail connections linking key urban areas by 2040. The West Railway project between Turku and Helsinki is part of this high-speed rail network. Martin Zeitler from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Transport will give a presentation on the Commission’s plan.
The webinar will also examine the Nordic Capitals Railway – A More Connected Nordic Region, A Stronger Europe report published in December, which outlines a vision for a high-speed rail connection linking Helsinki, Stockholm, and Oslo. Vesa Palander, Director of Business and Economic Development, City of Turku, will present the key findings of the report. In addition, the event will feature a presentation on the planned high-speed rail connection between Oslo and Stockholm by Jonas Karlsson, CEO of Oslo-Stockholm 2.55 AB. The discussion will be moderated by Jyri Arponen, Regional Mayor of Southwest Finland.
The webinar will be held in English on 17 April 2026 from 10:00 to 11:30 CET. The event is open to all, but registration is required. Welcome!
